Watched deathnote 2 today, cause I cannot resist the temptation of the second movie. I think I will give a 5 out of 5 stars for this movie. It is that good, way better than the first one, for a Japanese movie. Some say they can do better, and some, like what I said, 已经很不错了。That's the best they can go already.
The movie starts off with Misa being stalked by the director then getting the Death Note from Remu, this was the second last scene from the first movie. Toda Erika did a fairly good job although she wasn't as "open" or as noisy as the real Misa. That's what I thought though. Oh, there was a short part of it showing Raito visiting Shiori at the funeral, where people were debating about him and Kira.
Meanwhile, investigation begins for L and the team. There wasn't any tennis game in the movie. Ack! I knew it. It seems so hard to make them run around the court, play and talk at the same time. That tennis game and the "cafe talking" scene was completely replaced by a chess game. It immediately moves on to Misa sending a tape to Sakura TV during a festival, claiming that she is the second Kira and is willing to help Kira out in his duties. To prove her actions, she killed a tv host on the spot, along with some other police officers. This was pretty different from the manga as I believe Misa didn't claim she is the second Kira? L actually feel off the chair when he heard "Shinigami", yea, dat was lyk, SHOCKING! This was where Raito and Misa first met, as usual she spotted Raito as Kira since he does not have his life span below his name. The movie summaries their meet up(they were supposed to find each other somewhere).
The mood was lightened when L met Raito in school. He actually went to find him in college, I don't know why actually cause it was supposed to be after the tennis match in the book. To avoid been seen by Kira(that was what he said), he brought along and wore a mask, a dorky mask which left everyone in the cinema laughing. roflmao. I will really love to get the mask and look at it everyday. So... that was where Misa appeared, saw his real name and was captured. This part is exactly the same as the manga, Misa was quarantined for 23 days, Raito 18 days. Both of them gave up the ownership of the Death Note during that period.
And of course before that Raito had already told Remu what to do. He buried his copy of the Death Note and told Remu to hand over Misa's copy to a newscaster, Takada Kiyomi. (They changed the third Kira, reducing one character.) There were some ways where they figured out she is the third Kira and planned to capture her. I thought the newscaster was pretty redundant although she has pretty legs was supposed to be Raito's gf in the manga. She was just part of Kira's plot to get back the note, as well as his memory. Having remembered everything, Raito makes Misa dig out the Death Note(which he buried) and so she regained her memory of the note too. Not remembering L's name, Misa had a changed of eyes again.
As it is in the manga, Misa was made to go to the investigation office since she was being suspected. Meanwhile, Yagami and the rest of the team were made to go to the States where they had to carry out the experiment of the note. While arriving at the office, you know what happened haha. Watari and L were killed by Remu and he turned into sand, according to the movie. I tot dat was kinda nice, cos Remu sorta died to protect Misa. >.> misa actually has 2 Shinigami(s) dying for her. so good.
In his attempt to gain possession of Misa's Death Note, Raito wrote his father's name in his copy of the note. When he comes face to face with his father, he realised L was actually not dead. It turns out that L actually wrote his name on Remu's note, stating that he will die in 23 days so that no one else can kill him during this period. I told myself I have to write this. L actually wrote L Lawliet in the note but it was covered by the camera man. He was swinging the note to hard then his name start to show. *look out for that XD* Oh so Raito was being exposed and went crazy. He was killed by Ryuuk on the spot and died in his father's arms, but his death was being announced that he was killed by Kira. The sequence of death was changed completely as L was supposed to die before Raito by any means. lol. But too bad, Raito has to die before L in this one. I believe that's like "morally right" cause Raito is portrayed a criminal in the show. but it's good! as least L died peacefully, although it's lyk damn sad, but at least Raito's father saluted L before L died. yes, brave... L died eating chocolates..... sigh. damn sad.
Well, come were saying it's lame cause Misa, having th Death eyes could have known L wasn't dead when she met him. So how could he have faked his death. Oh well. If you are comparing to the manga, they have already changed and replaced many things from there, especially in the first movie.
I like the twist at the end. Cause there were only 2 movies, it's a little too short for 12 volumes. They had to exclude characters like Near and Mellow. However this L writing his name in the note, giving himself 23 days more actually managed to bring it back to where Raito comes face to face with... the person who is supposed to catch him. ^^;; And it managed to end the whole story like how it did in the manga. As expected, L ate a lot in the movie. Like eating and eating and eating all the sweet and "no idea" stuffs.
I thought it was cool though, all the actors are perfect in the movie. XD Also, Fujiwara Tatsuya is an excellent actor. He doesn't look very smart or very evil to be Raito, that's what people say. But his acting skills compensated that I believe. XDDD;; Damn, he just doesn't look evil. Matsuyama Kenichi's acting has improved? L looks like a ghost in some scenes though. I believe I enjoy the second one more than the first. If you are comparing it very much to the manga, it may not be as good. But if you are not, it seems good for a Japanese movie. It's a must watch for everyone if you have watched part 1.
I Love L.Lawliet!!! (:
