I've been to like, cold storage for like, all my life, and I always see this dubious looking fruit/thing called the "Indonesian Salak", and somehow i do remember eating it in one of my previous trips to Thailand, and i have no idea why i have absolutely no impression of how it actually tastes like and everything.
so today while i was making my wonderfully fab sandwich as shown in the previous entry (say it's nice!), and mum popped into the kitchen and told me, ''eh! i bought the salak fruit leh! you said you like right????".
and i was like, ''orh okay...'', and totally not remembering that i ever said i liked it coz i don't even remember how it tastes like and everything. and so, i decided to be brave and try the dubious looking fruit.
looks excitingly dubious right. and ohman the skin.
it feels like snake skin btw. just.. tougher? or drier.
and i was figuring out how to remove the skin of salak for the longest time.
and finally i just decided to poke my finger nail from the centre and tear the skin apart.
looks pretty much naked. can almost imagine it as a skinless snake.
anyway i taste-tested it, and it really had a very interesting taste. its like, crunchy, mildly sweet, with a banana-rish sweet tinge to it. and it felt me having this weird feeling of being in Bali. can almost feel like you're in a spa with orchids/rose petals around.
speaking of rose petals, while mugging for chem paper 2 last night/ this morning at a pathetic hour of 3am or so, i was watching channel 8 (yes its my bad habit to watch tv and mug at the same time), and they were showing about this floral cafe somewhere in singapore and they were recommending a couple of dishes, one of them being this 'flower salad'.and it looked really interesting. it's like, there's lavender, some other types of flowers with extremely chio blood red rose petals around. i was like, damn, wad a waste of a nice rose! like why are you eating the rose? it could have probably be done for a better purpose such as...
hmm. for a guy to use to propose to his girlfriend who would probably accept it coz the rose is really damn mfking chio! (and probably run away on the day of the wedding coz the roses aren't as chio anymore). ahem.
and it appears that actually eating roses (sounds damn weird), do have it's benefits to females. it is supposed to help with like, balancing of hormones (hahaha calming of raging hormones. does it make you less 花痴 (花吃) by eating flowers? get it? HAHAHA. ohman what's wrong with my sense of humour D: )
and i suppose the balancing of hormones is definitely good for the skin and everything coz im presuming that we (me) get pimples and scars from raging hormones at this pathetic teenage times. and if my hormones are balanced, my complexion is supposed to improve right right right!!
must be *nods to myself*.
and im having this sudden mental image. imagine next time my boyfriend, that is, if i can ever find one, propose to me with a bouquet of really really chio and huge
blood red roses and i gladly accept it, and just when he's about to pop the ring into my 4th finger, i start to chew up the roses to have chio skin.
HAHAHA. ohman i hope my prospective husband's not reading this if not im really not gna get married for the rest of my life. HAAHAHAHA like its a really bad thing. :P
BUY ME ROSES SO THAT I CAN EAT THEM TO GET REALLY CHIO SKIN AITE? :DDD
